Ubud, Bali (Day 1)

Posted by on August 29, 2013

We had to the leave the Arenui at 6:30am to make our flight from Labuan Bajo to Denpasar.  It was about an hour and fifteen minute flight to Denpasar where we would have a driver waiting for us to take us to Ubud.  His name was Ketut and Scott found him through his website for $40.  He was a nice guy and he will be taking us back once our time in Ubud comes to an end.

We arrived at the Kenanga Boutique Hotel where we will be staying at for the few days until our departure home.  It is a really nice hotel overlooking the rice fields.  We can’t complain with the views, the rooms or the service.

Tonight we went to town for a bit and walked around.  The cost for a typical cab is about $5 US.  We wanted to take Ted to Naughty Nuri’s which has the best $7 ribs around.  Scott decided to have a burger this time.  Look at this monster!  Looks delish.

Tomorrow we will be picked up at our hotel and will drive to Penelokan (Kintamani) where we we will have breakfast overlooking the active volcano, Mt. Batur and its crater lake.  Then we will take mountain bikes through parts of Bali down secret back roads and village roads.  We will visit local small villages and immerse ourselves in the culture of Bali and maybe meet some people in the local villages.  See you tomorrow for some fun!
