Crazy Experiences

Posted by on November 5, 2012

Woke up this morning a little later than we wanted.  Today was the day we would run through every detail of the motorhome to make sure everything was the way we wanted.

We also had to take the rental car back.  We thought it was just across the street from where the motorhome dealership was in The Villages but we found out that The Villages span over 3 counties.  Low and behold it was about 30 minutes away for the return of the rental car.  Scott followed me on the Enduro.  We did have a massive scare when we were taking the car back.  There was crazy construction going on and I happened to make a left into oncoming traffic with no way of getting out of it without having to hit it into reverse with everyone coming straight at me.  Scott thought that was the last time he would ever see me again.  I was pretty shaken up myself but the oncoming traffic knew what was happening and slowed down for me.  I was able to make it back on the appropriate road and we were on our way again.  We made it to The Villages with the rental car.  This is the ultimate golf cart retirement community.

After dropping the car off, I jumped on the back of the Enduro and away we went back to the motorhome.  We had a few hours with the motorhome before we took off on our journey to Wind Creek State Park in Alexander City, AL.  Scott just hit the governor/limiter in the motorhome at 80 MPH, so now we know there won’t be any crazy speeding.

Scott in command of the beast!

Blogging on the road

After driving for hours, we looked at the weather and discovered that we would be heading into the worst and only big storm in the US.  Of course we were in the yellow and red areas.  I guess this is one way to learn how to drive this 27,000 pound beast.

We finally made it to Wind Creek State Park in Alexander City, Alabama.  This state park spans 1,445 acres along the shores of Lake Martin, a 41,000-acre clear-water reservoir.  Since we arrived too late in the night to see anything, we will update you all tomorrow on our findings.
